Title: Study on Tensile Properties of Friction Stir Welded Joints of 6061-T6 Aluminium Alloys

Abstract: Friction stir Welding (FSW) is a solid state joining process used to weld similar and dissimilar materials which are difficult to weld by conventional welding process. Weld quality is mainly affected by welding input parameters such as tool geometry, tool rotational speed, welding speed and also the forces during welding. This paper presents a systematic approach to study the effect of parameters of Friction Stir Welding of thin aluminium alloy sheet. An attempt has been made to join the aluminium alloy of 6061-T6 of 2.5 mm thick by FSW using conventional milling machine. It was found that joints with rotational speed of 1000 rpm showed maximum tensile strength (UTS). Also, joint strength shows an increase with respect to welding speed.

Title: Evaluation of Flexural Properties of Glass/Epoxy Laminates with and without Graphite Particulate Filler

Abstract: An experimental study concerning the bending behaviour of glass fiber reinforced epoxy (GE) laminates with graphite particulate filler is investigated. The laminates were fabricated by dry hand lay-up technique. The approximate volume fraction of the laminate is; 65% of glass fiber, 27% of epoxy resin added with 3% of graphite particulate filler and 8% of hardener. The bending properties such as bend strength, bending stress and Break load were investigated by using universal testing machine in accordance with ASTM D 3039 standard. Specimens were examined under scanning electron microscope (SEM) to study the microstructure of fracture surfaces of samples. The bend test was performed in order to measure the bending properties as well as the damage resistance properties of glass/epoxy laminates with graphite particulate fillers.

Abstract: Designing a simple blow mould is always desirable for mass production of bottles. In this regard, the present work is focused on design and development of a blow mould for a 350 ml PET bottle. A two-impression blow mould which is capable of imparting an apple logo has been designed as the final component. An optimization of proper preform size, blow pressure and temperature has also been done in order to minimize the defects during the final production.

Abstract: Vibrational properties vary on various factor of stacking laminates. Unidirectional Glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites and Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites laminates were studied. The effect of fiber orientation on the dynamic characteristics of composites, GFRP and CFRP laminated composites have been studied experimentally. Dynamic properties were investigated under free vibration. High damping material kevlar and carbon have been used for hybridization. Unidirectional carbon fiber, short carbon and short kevlar fiber has been proved as potential materials to modify the dynamic properties of GFRP by hybridization.

Abstract: Almost everything around us today is either completely or partially made up of metal in some or another form. A large fraction of these objects is made up of sheet metal for its flexibility to the shape and size and ease of manufacturing them using press tools. This paper presents the design and analysis (FEA) of a disc brake component. The design calculations were done and the complete press tool was developed in the CAD. Further, FEA of the critical parts (Punch & Die inserts) was done to check for the failure under various load conditions. The results showed that the designed press tool is safe for the mass production.

Abstract:  The material removal processes comprise the biggest part of the manufacturing sector. This sector represents the largest energy consumers in the world. Hence, in last decade of the modern world every scientist has looking for the improvement in operating conditions of machining operations. Cutting forces and surface finish are the most important parameter that is to be controlled for easy and effective machining and longer tool life with less budget. In the review paper, a brief on optimum parameter which affects these forces and finish. Further we reviewed the parameters for various materials like Hardened steel, Aluminium alloy and polymeric composites. Overall machining operations is one of the most important processes but controlled by so many parameters and combinations of tool material and material to be machined, therefore we keep some parameter constant. To study the effect of the most important parameter, this review paper will be a mile stone to have an in-depth review from various parameters.

The paper involves the study of various parameters affecting the techno-economic feasibility of the integrated system along with its energy and exergy analysis and also provides an insight of various future aspects associated with individual systems

Abstract: The experimental study was performed on grit size of silicon carbide (220, 300 and 400), weight % of reinforcement (3%, 6% and 9%), stirring time (15, 20 and 25 minute) with stir casting technique and developed aluminum based silicon carbide particulate metal matrix composites(MMCs). Each parameter has three different levels and L9 orthogonal array was used to made different test specimens. The tensile strength and Vickers hardness test were performed with ASTM standard. The effect of the input process parameter on the output response has been analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result revealed a significant improvement on the tensile strength and hardness values.

Abstract: Nowadays, power dissipation is among the most dominant concerns in designing a VLSI circuits. Endless improvement in technology has points to an increased requirement for devices which have the basic characteristic of low power consumption. Hence power has turn into a demanding design parameter in low power and high-performance applications. The Adiabatic logic technique is becoming a solution to the dilemma of power dissipation. Adders with huge power consumption affect the overall efficiency of the system. Hence, in this paper, the proposed application of full adder circuit is shown using the Modified Glitch Free Cascadable Adiabatic Logic. The circuit is compared with the conventional CMOS Logic and the power dissipation analysis is simulated with supply voltage = 0.9 V, 1.2 V and 1.8 V to analyze the pattern followed with supply variation at different temperature range. Similarly, the calculation of delay is performed for temperature values of 27˚C, 55˚C and 120˚C at 90nm technology.

Abstract:  In this paper, a prediction model has been developed for metal removal rate prediction in electrical discharge machining. EN-31 and copper has been taken as work material and electrode respectively. The models were developed for current, pulse on and pulse off obtained experimentally. Regression analysis has been used to develop the models for experimental data. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method has been used to characterize the main factors affecting the metal removal rate
