Abstract: Deep drawing is a sheet metal forming process in which deformation forces are oriented in plane of the sheet, and the surface pressures in the tool are generally lower than the yield stress of the sheet material. The present work discusses the selection of sheet material suitable for a fuel tank by experimental evaluation of tensile properties of interstitial free steel and deep draw quality steel sheets of the same thickness 0.8mm. The tensile specimens are laser cut from a blank with known rolling direction and are tested for tensile properties and anisotropy. These tensile properties of the sheets are used in material model in FE simulation of the deep draw process using HYPERWORKS. It is observed that an optimum blank holder force is necessary to remove the wrinkling defects. It is concluded that higher ductility and normal anisotropy are the key factors for higher thinning resistance in deep drawing and hence, interstitial free steel sheet qualifies as the better material for the fuel tank.

Abstract: Tracking the path of development in different Engineering disciplines, it can be easily observed that, right from the primitive stage, several tools, devices and techniques may be identified, which happened by virtue of evolution of human intelligence, getting transformed into various engineering applications. Although, later different engineering disciplines evolved, where most of the exhaustive development could be undertaken in that discipline. Likewise, in the field of mechanical engineering too various types of mechanical systems, according to the requirement in that field, were developed, in order to providing support of mechanization. Prime movers used to be an important part of these mechanical systems, which provided energy input as well as actuation required for providing the machines the desired kinematics. Most of the mechanical systems developed has been operated by conventional engine system using one or other fuel. 
Apart from the actuation by mechanical means, there are other means also through which mechanical actuation with better control, flexibility and manipulation may be utilized in mechanical systems. A different category of systems, called Mechatronic systems has been developed in recent past, which involves vivid scope of use of techniques, devices and components generally used in various other engineering fields of electrical, electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics etc. Subsequently, there has been several inventions, design & development which have added new levels in every field. Mechanical systems have been generally composed of various mechanical elements, which are designed to follow certain kinematics. Performance of the Actuation system plays an important role in overall performance of the mechanical systems. There are several alternative actuation systems, which are not mechanical. These actuation systems may be categorized into electrical, electronics, hydraulic and pneumatic type. The features of these actuation systems, are so peculiar, that typical kinematic movement may be manipulated that to with more precision. Better control of mechanical systems may be realized, which is otherwise difficult with mechanical systems. In this paper, an effort has been made to review the possibilities, prospects as well as scope with various actuation systems.

Abstract: First electrical behavior i.e. short circuit current and open circuit voltage is observed. The effect of different parameters on I-V and P-V curve are studied considering uniform illumination. These parameters are insolation level, temperature, series resistance, shunt resistance, diode reverse saturation current. Variation on I-V and P-V curve are different with each parameter. With some parameters effect is significant while for others effect is not so significant. For the parameters whose effect is not so significant large variation of inputs are taken for showing the effect. Simulation work is done in MATLAB

Abstract: This paper illustrates design and analysis of a horse shoe patch antenna and compares the results of antenna for Duroid (ɛr = 2.2), Rogers RO4350 (ɛr = 3.66) and FR-4 (ɛr = 4.3) as substrate material and other comparison is between proposed antenna with and without an upper layer of substrate (duroid). Substrate thickness taken for this antenna is 1.57mm and for substrate layer above patch, thickness is 0.2mm. Comparison of these different structures has been done on the basis of return loss, VSWR, efficiency and far-field.  In these structures a horse shoe shaped patch is placed above substrate. The proposed antenna has been designed and simulated using CST microwave studio 2014. The proposed antenna design can be used for WLAN, WiMAX and IMT applications.

Abstract: D2 steel is an industrial tool steel. It is widely used in tool and die industry for making cutting tool inserts, bending insert, restriking inserts etc. which can be taken out after their tool life. D2 steel is very tough steel and difficult to machine also.High generations tool bits like Tungsten carbides and Titanium carbides are required to machine them. Heat treatment follows the machining process.Their mach inability is very low. CNC machines are often used to finish them. Often they are machined using programs on UG-NX Uni Graphics(CAM) and DELCAM.And they have to be machined in three steps. Roughing operations, followed by Semi-Finish machining and last step is finish machining.CNC machining centre are versatile in their applications in metal removal processes. Often they are so modernized that just like many manufacturing operations, metal removal can be automated too.  Need for CNC machining arises due to extensive finishing requirements in aerospace, automotive industries. However the CNC or Computer and Numerically controlled machining process usage is not limited to these industries only. Tool and Die industry also is heavily dependent on CNC material removal and machining processes as now  replaceable inserts are widely used in this industry.

Abstract: In this era, technology has the main role and have tremendous number of industrial machines which are also used in daily life. Steel is the basic industrial material used in all sectors. From all the Steel, Tool Steel have been extensively used and has many applications in today’s technological industries. Tool Steel Grade EN-18 is used for the experimentation in this research. It has noteworthy range of physical properties which can be imparted to various field. Experiments were conducted for analysing the temperature variations on Steel Grade EN-18 using a pin-on-disc wear test rig as per ASTM specification G99. The temperature rises at the contact area when there is relative motion between two mating surfaces. This motion also results in the failure of the components. Experiments have been carried out to study and analyse the temperature variations of various material with respect to tool steel, while the operational parameters were normal load, sliding velocity of pin w.r.t. rotating disk at room temperature and different materials. Based on the experiments the dependency of temperature variations is found on applied load, sliding speed and material.

Abstract: This paper presents simulation and design results for Transformerless Power Convertors which are to be used in conjunction with a PV array for solar applications. The set of converters consists of a boost converter as well as a single phase inverter for conversion of DC supply from the array to a usable AC voltage. The power extraction from the array is done by using the Maximum Power Point tracking (MPPT) algorithm. Simulation is done on Proteus and PSIM.

Parameters are insolation, temperature, series resistance,shunt resistance and reverse saturation current of diode.For this I-V and P-V characteristics with variation of these parameters are analysed.For finding out the Maximum Power Point,Perturb & Observe technique is used.Variation in these points are different with each parameter.All simulation work is done in MATLAB.

Abstract: The aim of this thesis is to address capabilities in prediction of compressive strength of concrete to affect quality control in construction. To comprehend this, a compressive strength predicting model using the principles of fuzzy logic set theory had been employed. The model put into use ‘fuzzy logic’ as a tool to predict the compressive strength of concrete at a given day. Data collected from previous researches and laboratory work had been put into use in the model construction and testing. The input variables of water/binder ratio, cement content, water content, and fly ash percentage and the output variable of 28-day cement compressive strength were fuzzified by the use of triangular membership functions and Gaussian membership functions which were deployed for the fuzzy subsets. The prediction of the 28-day cement strength data by the developed fuzzy model proved to be quite satisfactory. The training and testing of 4 different models was done. The Minimum average percentage error levels in the fuzzy model were seen to be as low as   (3%) in case of Model 3. Comparative study of the different models (all 3 Triangular and 1 Gaussian) had been done.  The results indicated that the application of fuzzy logic algorithm was quite satisfactory when triangular membership function with decreased subset range was used. The outputs of Triangular and Gaussian model were almost similar..

Abstract: To achieve fully automatic surveillance of some specific color objects, an intelligent real-time detection method based on video processing is proposed.  The main aim of this paper is to identify the colors and use them to achieve their applications. Proposed algorithm is used to detect a specific color and also to track it in the live video feed which could be eventually used for many different applications like surveillance camera, fire detection in cases of forest fires, etc. For the color recognition part , several stages such as image subtraction, noise filtering, binary image and blob extraction is used to recognize a specific color in the video feed. Then the corresponding pixels on the GUI are drawn to track where all the color has been. This might find application in various areas; one such area in which this has been used often is in detection of forest fires.
